. PLEASE EMAIL MY SON IN IRAQ ... IT'S QUICK ... IT'S EASY ... HE DOESN'T CARE HOW MESSED UP YOU ARE a recent email from ANDREW: These last few months are kind of tough. Mentally - not the mission. It just seems like time has slowed down to a halt and I'm really homesick. I'm ready to end this thing for now. Well Kelly is slowly dropping off the face of the planet with her job and school. I'm losing touch really quick with home. I need a push. If it is not too much would someone email me daily just to give me a reason to come to the computers. And some more real mail too. I need someone from back home that I talk to. Darin has been real good to email me. Well I just need a pick-me-up. Thank you guys for everything. Love you! notes: ~ Andrew has 2 months left in Iraq ~ Kelly is Andrew's wife. ~ Darin is Andrew's brother
WHY WOULD I ASK YOU GUYS TO EMAIL ANDREW? ~ because quantity is just as good as quality ~ because he's with the same people every day ~ because surprises are a healthy type of jolt WHAT DOES IT TAKE? ~ an email doesn't have to be more than a few sentences ~ just ONE email will make a difference ~ chat about ANYTHING [pets/movies/what a great writer you are/ what a jerk his father is/sex/sex/sex/oatmeal/what a great dump you just had/lies/lies/more lies/how when he grows up he should be a dentist/your favorite comfort food/what punks the members of his USAF flight are/how you think soldiers are imperialist puppets (not)]]
one email of a couple of sentences will make a difference. thanks from a father who appreciates friends. Andrew Dallas Leach pushymilk28025@yahoo.com ;D

. today's e from Andrew: I have a little more than two months left and at the end of the deployment we have to train the replacements. So that means I will probably only have about 2 more convoys left and I'm in the clear for this deployment. I'm so exited. Everyone is gearing up because it is nearing the end. I don't know what you did but I wish I would have come to you sooner. My email is exploding with emails. It is great. Now I just need to find more time to respond. I love it! ... Well I appreciate the emails! I love them in fact. Makes me feel important again. Tell everybody hello for me! Thank you a bunch. Andrew.thanks so much, fam. you've gotten Andrew over the hump. couldn't have done it without you. much love. neil.

OK, I'm on it, too. Might even have crossed paths with the young man if he did any kind of training at Ft Lewis before deploying. A lot of them have to pass my training lane before they ship out, especially if they are in detainee ops or public relations or force protection. We train Air Force and Navy as well as Army personnel.

. thanks so much, everyone. Andrew is on a logistics deployment for the next couple of days ... this is the fancy way of saying that he and a bunch of other guys are driving around Sandville in trucks.
he is starting to unwind. this deployment may be his second to last if things work as he expects. after another deployment or two he will be involved with training the incoming group.
again, many "thank yous" to everyone. if you missed out somehow, DON'T WORRY ... Andrew has been amply covered. and that is a good feeling for Denise and i. love. neil. ;D

. Andrew called last night. He sounded great.
here's a portion of the convo that you may find amusing :
Denise : Are you still getting lots of e-mails? Andrew : Oh yeah ... Daddy has some strange friends. Denise : Many of the people writing to you are part of a black poetry forum. Andrew : Do they know Daddy is white? Denise : Sure, honey, he posted his picture. Andrew : And they accepted him? Denise : Yes, honey. Andrew : OH! Well, that makes me feel better ... I thought they might be weirdos TRYING to be black. Denise : No, honey. Andrew : Good! Tell them to keep 'em coming.
bunches and lots of thanks, yall. brothah neil ;D

.hi ladies and other less fortunate persons - thanks bunches for keeping up the fun and games ... total craziness is prolly more relieving than sincere "concern" ... so go nuts. ;D i should have tagged the picture. thems my main dogs ... representin' live from Atlanta ... none other than "Mars Ill". on the Left looking tall and swank : Gregory Owens ~ lyrix / vocals on the Right lookin like his own seff : Nathan Corrona ~ beats / production .... oh yeah. they both of 'em married with chirrens; so back up off that. yeah, Grace-gurl ... akchully, i put that oreo eatin stuff in there coz i figured somebody would run with it ... i'm so bad.

hi, sweetheart ... thanks so much for your warm concern. it is genuinely appreciated.
the two youngest of my 3 sons have now been to Iraq and returned safely. neither were in forward combat assignments. Darin was as safe as you can be in Iraq ... he was permanently located at a rear logistics station. Andrew was in some danger since he was involved in truck convoys. neither son was involved in combat or its aftermath. Andrew told me that he was in a night convoy once and mentioned to his driver that he was apprehensive about the dangers. the driver handed him a pair of night vision goggles and told him to have a look around. on both sides of the convoy tanks were stationed at regular intervals. heavily armed humvees were keeping up with the convoy well off the road and completely out of sight of normal vision and hearing. attack helicopters followed the convoy just out of hearing. any sign of enemy fire would immediately have been "lit up" from ground and air forces. the enemy knew this & never showed face. Andrew was highly impressed and much relieved. it costs a lot of money to provide for the safety of troops this way ... it is the only way to assure that the vast majority come home unscathed. i am grateful that my sons were well cared for and that they were involved in missions which did not aggravate the natural tensions of the area.
i will be as happy as anyone [maybe happier, because i understand the real possibility of paying an ultimate price] to see US involvement in Iraq ended. i will surely vote for which ever presidential candidate seems most likely to be able to bring this about.
thanks again for your care. blessings. neil.

hey, Light no writers in the family. i'm the misfit. Darin, my youngest at 21, is blessed with loads of graphic and musical creativity. Darin is also very goal oriented. When he finishes his time with the Marines, he already has a school chosen which will teach him all the nuances of music production. Darin has already made several CDs with music quality significantly higher than a lot of stuff you can hear on TV that passes for "theme music". he will do well. the only encouragement i get to write comes from my online friends such as yourself ... most of the people who really motivate me are here in the Projects. best wishes. be well. neil.
