. . .great stuff, violet ... thanks!
DURER ... absolutely. fine selections, too.
lessee. the one below the Beardsley is a Clarke, and almost certainly the one below that. oh, the last one is a Clarke also ... i just saw his tag at the top. interesting place to put your siggie. violet, were you already aware of Clarke? i wasn't. i bumped into his work while doing an image search for something else. he seems much more playful and less self-absorbed in his imagery than Beardsley. certainly more decorative and less consumed with making every line a dynamic compositional element. or i could speak English like a normal person.
fine, fine work every one. good eye ... like i need to tell the art teacher.[blush] btw, do you like this sort of graphic? if so, why? if you don't mind. no biggee. ;D i look forward to seeing contributions from more PROJECTS PEEPS. hint hint hint hint. lurkers welcome to contribute. it's all about the images. this isn't a popularity contest. truly. and being 'as good as' has nothing to do with anything. word. let everyone see more stuff. more is always better. if you do not know how to post images, please ask. i or any of the noble people who have already posted will be happy to tell you how simple it is. it's fun. it's easy. only 4 monthly payments of 29.95!!!which reminds me. i need to go round up some children's art. violet, do you have any children's art or know a good source? thanks bunches.

I'm not a teacher anymore Neil. I taught visual art for ten years and I'm not sure I wanna return to the profession. Right now my body won't allow it anyway. I just love art, that's all. I was not aware of Beardsley and Clarke unfortunately, but now I am thanks to you. My background is not so much in illustration and graphics, rather; painting. The first work I ever saw of Beardsley's was actually on a Humble Pie album cover someone showed me around the same time you began posting images. It's funny how things work like that. Art History and Visual Art are entirely different monsters as far as teaching. I am much less of a historian, but always tried to turn kids onto work but with limitations due to administrative expectations of what was considerred "acceptable."
Take care. I hope you get some comfort and rest from whatever ails you and good luck with your PET.
Peace.

p.s.
I always thought you wrote perfect English. In the world of text it is not always easy to communicate an idea to another no matter how articulate one may fancy themselves. I enjoy your presence here so much because I do feel you have a command of the English language I certainly do not.
Ok...I must go rest.

... Humble Pie album cover ... you hit the nail on the head. album art and comic books were unquestionably my prime movers ... as they were for the graphic interests of loads and bunches of people with involvements ranging from "that's cool" to professional artist. album covers put some outrageous stuff right in people's faces. stuff that they otherwise would never have been exposed to. like the cover of Quicksilver Messenger Service's "Happy Trails" which was built on a Frederick Remington platform. where else is a hippie, punk or space cadet going to bump into Frederick Remington? right. nowhere. album art was and continues to be a huge factor in making people with no other graphic background fairly sophisticated in terms of appreciating quality work. strange bedfellows.Frederick Remington "The Scout: Friends or Foes?" 1902–1905en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Remington1969

#4, #5 and #6 looked odd to me. well duh, neil, stieglitz did it on purpose. i think that this series of photos each labeled as "equivalent" was intentionally rotated by steiglitz. below are thumbnails of the orientation which i think was natural. this thought is not an interpretive option. for_what_it's_worth only.4equivalent 19265equivalent 19296equivalent 1930source :www.masters-of-photography.com/S/stieglitz/stieglitz_articles1.htmlalso more photos..

. . .Dear Violet - thanks so much for letting me know that you enjoyed mr. stieglitz. some one's enjoyment is the only legitimate reason that i can think of [at the moment] to post art. it certainly does no good hanging of the wall for the sake of prestige. ;D i'm being silly. Violet, i would like to know what you like about these images. anything you might care to pass along. tiny is fine. i'm sure it would broaden my horizons. if you have a couple seconds. thank you. best wishes. neil.whoop. just had a thought. if you would just tell me your favorite, that would be great. i'll number 'em. toddles.. . .

I like #1, #7, #10 and #14 in no particular order. I like them all really, but those specifically I am more drawn too and spark a curiosity within me. If I HAD to pic a favorite, I'd say #1.
