Peace to all! I just joined the spot, I am Elijah H. Muied A.K.A. "6 Deep the Messenger" greetings to all the word-smiths on the mission for change. Here is my introduction to you!! (an excerpt from a performance in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr)
In memory of Dr King!
As we gather in celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it is important that we realize now more than ever, the need to continue to strive toward true accomplishment of the goals voiced in that famous speech given in 1963. The goals of true freedom and equality!
There is to this day, a largely disproportionate amount of time and effort given to negative imagery depicting people of color, Black men in particular as drug and sex crazed, lazy savages with no sense of family values, ambition or drive.
The rare media attention given to other aspects of our lives are usually over emphasized, blatant depictions of any flaws we have. The truth is there are more African American and Hispanic fathers in their children’s lives than not, there are more of us working legitimately, paying taxes and caring for our families than not.
Ask yourselves why business men and women of color are not celebrated as readily as their Caucasian counterparts? Yet any and all negative depictions are plastered nonstop throughout the media? Someone is benefiting from keeping the negative idea and stereotypes of people of color alive. It is a tool used to keep this nation divided as a people and an outdated, corrupt power structure intact!
Remember the dream. Each one of you, strive to do your part to realize and promote true “equality”.
Long live the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr!

Seems like a constant force to keep turning our attention away from. I'd like to suggest we remind ourselves how people are being 'kept divided' today...color lines not so much as it is on lines that divide us on any weakness of the mind or spirt that the mainstream media can seize and cap on. BET is a great example of keeping divisions well in tact—love a ho then hate her for being one, soft handed geeks as inferior to the G, keep those bitches subordinate to the real men... We all know those who are making bank on those divisions are not all one color or the other, nor all they all men....I think that we impose so many contradictions on ourselves because we are so used to being 'set against' ...finally gettin' the cash to do something god for himself then condemn him for selling a little weed; get a good job in a corporate office and condemn the pimp; divisions among individuals and categorizing the mainstream sheep—Time old to keep people divided as a way for a few to capitalize on. Color boundaries no longer are the biggest selling feature...Black has become just too damn cool, even the 'dumb blond' can sense a wisdom conjured to keeping a people alive that shines forth from the skin of the coldest 'Black pimp'. I see more so than ever sex divisions (maybe because i'm female and feel that part of the power structure regardless of skin hue), divisions based on random notions of what's hot and what's not, instant gratification, momentary/contradictory value systems that pull in the cash flow for the few who dictate "it". I suggest that in order to achieve the goals voiced in MLKJr.'s speech of 1963, we live our own lives in that way FIRST, and the rest WILL follow. That outdated power structure will wither due to lack of attention if we make the switch in our own lives and stop paying attention to what is not serving us and the planet, stop giving it power... Stop watching so much TV, listen to and support listener sponsored radio stations that give the real news, read more books, keep writing and sharing ART, watch fewer mainstream movies—most of which are empty entertainment and could fund an entire charter school for 5 years on the budget it takes to make one (not to mention the money we collectively spend to rent them or go to the theater to watch them) watch real documentaries instead... The Price of Sugar: www.imdb.com/title/tt1045874/plotsummary Fair Trade: www.imdb.com/title/tt0838166/ American Blackout: www.americanblackout.org/ Life and Debt: www.montrealserai.com/2003_Volume_16/16_4/Article_6.htmto name a few... keep writing, thinking, creating, sharing. Make use of our wealth of diverse wisdom sources to inform how we can all proceed peacefully, respectfully in a world that supports us and that we support. The the dregs of this country's economy based in slavery remain in many forms and all over the world: It is a time of challenging ourselves to make a paradigm shift where the forceful, destructive, excessive, wasteful way we have all been brought up in—on one end or the other or somewhere in between—must stop, IT MUST STOP, or our grand kids will be living for want all thw way around. The nurturing, compassionate, creative, life affirming, life sustaining-in-all-its-funky-sexy-glorious-geeky-artistic-intellectual-hands-in-the-dirt ways must prevail. I am so appreciative of this forum because it is rooted in these values. always will love me sumdirt. Time to dig in. Thanks for the affirmation and encouraging this flow, Elijah H. Muied A.K.A. "GROUNDHOG"... and not just the basement, every car/truck/van he ever owned all had cbs in them... he caint even drive no more and he STILL buys mobile units just for the hell of it. thats his addiction... BUT WHEN I HAD MOVED BACK HOME AND SET MY COMPUTER UP ON THE EXACT SPOT WHERE HIS BASEMENT CB USETA BE, THEN HE WAS ALL LIKE "THAT INTERNET SHIT IS FUCKED UP! WHATCHU BE DOIN ON THAT THANG?? YOU GONNA FUCK AROUND AND GO TO JAIL!" ...groundhog. ...upfromsumdirt. one communication device replaces another and now HE's the saint... ...right. pops, aint no difference in ur cb and my pc ... if he could type and his fingers wasnt fatasfuck then he'd be doin this shit too.
