i'm tonya leigh wiley. i live in the OKC, but born and raised in connecticut. GO HUSKIES!!!

i just turned 33 last wednesday and i'm still celebrating.

mother of two, 10 & 12, spiritual mother to 3 mo chirrens, cuz their parents are in iraq and south america, respectively.

i'm in grad school. that don't mean i'm really smart tho. i'm gettin' my MA in creative writing.

i love coffee. sometimes i get it for free at the starbucks around the corner cuz i think the dude behind the counter has a crush on me.

i love music. (almost) any kind of music, just as long as it's groovin'. (QUICK! who sang that song?). on myspace, fidel, aka "the blog guy" has a "name that tune" post almost everyday and i usually get it. in fact, i named all the whitney houston/bobby brown songs he quoted from in a recent blog. whut whut!

music moves me like good poetry moves me. i love me some pablo. li-young lee. elizabeth alexander. natasha trethewey. sekou sundiata. i like words i can feel.

i've been really reflective lately after the death of my grandfather. he and my daddy are the loves of my life.

this means i'm letting myself fall in love. again. (wasn't that an LTD song? back in love again?) -- i may be off the market soon. not marriage, but i'll be committed and stuff.

i just got a great job. i'm loving it. life is good right now.

po -- u r right. jeffrey osborn has NEVA EVA EVA been pretty. but he can sang, so fuck it.

i think writing classes help the person who can actually write. if you go into a class slapping stuff together because yo mama once said you was a good writer, well, you're doomed to fail. you gotta be passionate. you gotta want to grow, get better, keep it funky fresh. so for me, the classes have been helpful because i'm learning new ways to tap into myself and find the well. finding the well is important.

i will say taking creative writing classes doesn't make you a writer. you gotta do that on your own.
