Got a message I should check this board out. I see a lot of familiar faces here already and I haven't even left the intro board.
For those of you who have not already seen my mug on Written Images, my name is Robert. I am a retired Army NCO living in Spanaway, WA. For some odd reason, in August of 2005, I decided, after decades of trying to write novels that maybe poetry might be a better idea. Looks like I should have tried it sooner.
Let the good times roll!

Glad to be among such a distinguished group of poets.
I have just finished a collection of my first year's work and am looking for a publisher. So far, it looks like I may have to go with self-publishing or subsidized publishing, and that takes a bit of money I don't have on hand. So I have gone the route of submitting it to competitions.
The smallest prize would pay for a run at lulu.com, plus it would get a limited run of books onto the market for review.
Now that I have figured out how to work the buttons on this page, I shall be sure to drag any of my newer works and some of my favorite oldies past you here.
A lot of you on this board have really been a big help to my development as a writer, and I want you to know that.

Spanaway, Wa??? Is that close to Seattle??? I have been trying to get to Seattle or someplace in Oregon so I can shoot some seascapes....you know black and white timed shots, misty water againts black jettys, puffy clouds...sunsets....anything like that there...maybe camp out on one of those islands off of Washington state...can you give me the 411???

Spanaway is just south of Tacoma, bordering on McChord AFB and Ft Lewis. Kind of out in the boondocks on the way to Mt Raineir. Spectacular view of the mountain from a lot of points, and in some places you can see what is left of Mt St Helens. You're probably thinking of the San Juan Islands, a good ways north of here. And yes, it worth the trip for a photographer.
Drop me a line if you do get out this way.
